With particular focus on Energy and Infrastructure transactions, Rowley is regularly retained by leading advisers and investors to structure insurance solutions on a wide range of deals across the globe. He has been instrumental in the growth of M&A insurance products in the Middle East.

Recent Experience

Rowley’s recent experience includes:

  • Advising on a buy-side policy for the acquisition of a stakes in Hornsea 1, an 1.2GW offshore wind farm powering over 1 million homes.
  • Advising on a W&I policy for the acquisition by Antin Infrastructure Partners of Wildstone, the leading owner of independent outdoor media infrastructure in the UK.
  • Advising DIF on a buy-side policy for the acquisition of BluEarth Renewables, a power producer that develops, builds, owns and operates wind, hydro and solar facilities across North America.
  • Advising DIF on a buy-side W&I policy for the acquisition of an interest in the 900-megawatt Cascade Power Project in Canada.
  • Working alongside Clifford Chance on a W&I policy for Amber in relation to the acquisition of Cargounit, a leading CEE rolling stock business.
  • Advising on a buy-side policy for the acquisition of Kellas Midstream by BlackRock’s Global Energy & Power Infrastructure Funds (GEPIF III) and GIC.
  • Advising on buy-side policies for the acquisition of stakes in Lincs and Borssele V offshore wind farms.
  • Advising on buy-side policies for RTB battery storage projects with an aggregate capacity in excess of 1 GW.
  • Advising on a seller-initiated buy-side policy for the sale of Mainstream, a leading independent renewable energy developer with a value in excess of EUR 1 billion, with assets and operations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America.
  • Advising on a buy-side policy in relation to a Sovereign Wealth Fund minority investment into a leading UK fibre optics business.

Prior to joining HWF Rowley was both a corporate lawyer and an underwriter. He spent a decade at CMS advising on a wide range of transactions predominantly in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors, which included giving guidance to clients on the use of W&I insurance and becoming a trusted adviser to numerous W&I insurers. He then joined the XL M&A team in 2014, and as a senior underwriter insured a large volume of transactions during a period of rapid growth for the industry.
